I have found the above on ebay and its seems well priced, unless you would suggest a different model?

I had been looking at the NASA Target which includes software, though the little information I can find appears to require the use of DOS which rather puts me off!

Weather Fax 2000 looks very convenient, if a bit pricey. SeaTTY would appear to do the job so I'm thiking that if I combine this with the Tecsun 310 I should be in business to download weather faxes to my laptop?

No, that's probably not a good choice. Better would be the Tecsun PL-600 or the Degen 1103. You want a radio with a good SSB capability.

It's also available from Canada on eBay. Sometimes goes under the brand name, Kaito.

I don't use SeaTTY, but just about any such program should work just fine with a decent receiver.

In Mexico, I am able to tune into the Ham and SSB sailing nets and hear everything for weather and gossip. I have not installed a bigger antennea, but hope to. I am very happy with the performance and coverage for the money....
