more AIS woes...

a new antenna & cable cured the range problem, now our Matsutec came up with a new problem: it "forgot" all ship's data apart from the MMSI: no call sign, no name, no dimensions, nationality or gps-antenna-position, even turned our boat from a 36 sailing vessel into a "30- fishing vessel". Needed to have the data put in three more times until it "kept" them - for how long? loa & boa are no longer available in the programming mode, don't show up at all...
is the thing jinxed?
