Mount Garmin Down Vu transducer inside hull?

I am well aware that many People have success mount depth transducers inside the hull using epoxy or some liquid/gel to get the signal thru the fiberglass. I have a little Garmin DownVu transducer designed to be transom mounted that I would like to mount inside the hull. It is shaped like a little boat, about 5 inches long and less than an inch thick. Would fit nicely in the deepest part of the hull, I could mount well forward of midships. Any reason this wouldn't work? And just pour soume epoxy up to the top surface? Connecting to the small Garmin chartplotter it came with and that works fine.
