The Navionics charts we used came from Apple equivalent of Play. I think the owner paid something like USD 30.

Similar to here:

I am not sure how it relates to cartridges. Last time we used cartridges, they were about USD 190 apiece.

I stay with Android or iPad anyways - hardware cost.

There is also a c-map app that one can try out / view available charts.

Re: Navionics or C-Map Cartography for Europe?

I use C-maps on a plotter and Navionics on an iPad.
The Cmap has slightly greater coverage, but there are more errors.

Frankly all maps, paper and electronic are pretty poor in the deserted, out of the way anchorages, that I prefer.
This was my last anchorage. Not much depth detail, but at least the general orientation is correct. Cmap was worse.

Often google earth has more useful information.

+1

Once I find an interesting spot I also look at it via Bing, sometimes I get better resolution there:

On average, I find C-Map better. It's also cheaper. This is for plotter and PC.

For iPad pricing is irrelevant so it's more about what can you get and just use it.
