Offshore gribs…2022=2016?

So, in the year 2022, now, for someone doing New England - Bermuda - Bahamas route in May, is there an alternative to Iridium Go, to receive Expedition gribs offshore? As far as I can tell, neither Starlink, nor Garmin, nor Spot are capable?

I guess I could change the subj to 2022=1960...

Yes, not counting SSB, or more expensive sat comms like Inmarsat, KVH, etc...

It's a small step to go from texts to gribs, so I thought someone might figure it out for Garmin, Spot, or now also Zoleo

Gribs definitely won't work with Zoleo (I have one): no attachments. (But Zoleo allows messages up to ~950 char length if both ends use zoleo app; so someone onshore can send detailed text forecasts)

(Of course, gribs easy to get via SSB, as are better synoptic forecasts... but that's supposedly "1960s" tech.....)

Re: Offshore gribs…2022=2016?

We use UUplus.com email service [optimized for use with Iridium phones and the GO] for downloading all our Wx products. [GRIBs, WeFax, Sat images, text, etc.]

Very efficient, and if used with an Iridium phone, it takes advantage of Iridium's RUDICS data optimization service for even more efficiency. [RUDICS is not available on GO plans...]

In case this is of interest.

Cheers! Bill
