Old depthsounder into NMEA0183 or 2000 network?

I have an old Space Age Electronics depth sounder. Does anyone know or confirm if it's possible to convert it's signal into a NMEA0183 or NMEA2000 network to make the depth visible on my Raymarine Axiom chart plotter?

The unit looks like this (random pic from the net):

Since the Space Age Electronics depthsounder transducer looks suspiciously similar to NASA Marine transducer, can anyone confirm it's the same transducer working at 150 kHz echo frequency?

And if it's the same, I was thinking or hoping the Actisense DST-2-C (150 kHz model) converter would do the trick?

I really don't want to make another bigger hole to fit a new bigger modern transducer since the current one is very well made into a nicely welded socket, with some 15mm opening for the wire (steel boat) - even if it blows out for some reason, the water inflow would be very minimal compared to any modern transducer that has a diameter of large 60mm or so with very questionable plastic mountings.

Any input or experience highly welcome!
