Old Tacktick versus Garmin Chirp

So.. My 77 Peterson 34, came with a mostly installed Tacktick T-100 system (Windvane on the Navigation desk).

I purchased a Garmin 741xs Chartplotter. Installed a GT8HW-IH In-hull transducer which shows depth AND has significantly better fish finding.

Unfortunately the Tacktick Transducer is strictly 200khz, and goes from 8ft (accurate) to 160ft (an extra 152ft) when the Garmin turns on.

I love the Tacktick screens. My Wind is accurate, and I just installed new batteries! The heading and hull speed through the water is accurate.

Is there another Transducer option for the system? Something on a different wave length?

I'm Unfortunately thinking the Tacktick system might be worth more then similar Garmin upgrades..

Re: Old Tacktick versus Garmin Chirp

I'd prefer to keep both, as a multi-system setup.

However the truth is, the Tacktick Transducer is a bit older (while maintaining value!)..

For me, when the Garmin starts transmitting. Depth jumps about 160 feet! Obviously misinterpreting the Garmin's transmission.Click image for larger version

I also have the compass and Single heads up display. And a second split screen at the Navigation station (with a crack in the housing).

I set it up so the split screen is Heading and Depth, while the Single screen is Speed through the water.

They do not link to the Garmin unfortunately.
