Older Airmar to newer Garmin chartplotter

I have a 2005 vintage ( I think) Airmar speed and depth sensors that were originally connected to RM installed in the hull. I would like to be able to use them with my newer Garmin Echomap 44DV which came with a transom mount dept sensor, never used. The Garmin has only 4 pins on the rear ( the other 4 pins are power and NMEA in-out). Can I do this? How about with a multiplexer? I intend to install a mini Windows computer in the boat with a multiplexer and i would be fine to only see the results on the computer display.
thanks in advance.
Ed
