Or were the fishermen just being "loud?"

A bit of both I think. They arrived drinking, stayed up till late drinking, went to bed drinking, got up really late so you can't call them "real" fishermen, went out on the boat drinking, came back that evening drinking, another late night drinking, up late again this morning and were catching fishing trolling right off from the jetty. Ever seen a guy trying to reel in a good fighting fish with rod in one hand, beer in the other?? Oh and the dearture was as they came, Music blearing off into the distance. Arrrr as long as they had fun and nobody loses an eye.

I used to hear a few stories about some guys fishing for marlins off the coast of Florida, while drinking alcohol.

And I hear a few have gotten killed while under the influence of alcohol, while fishing for marlins!!
