Open CPN with Raymarine ais 650

Has anyone used the USB connection on the Raymarine ais 650 to connect with the open CPN navigation software to overlay targets? If so please advise how you installed this into the software
Thanks

You'll need to use the NMEA multiplexer that is in the AIS to connect to your computer w/ the OCPN.

We used these RS232 cables to transfer the NMEA data to the computer.

You need to add the connections under the toolbar (wrench) so OCPN can see the incoming sentences. Take a look at the manual on the connections

The USB connection on the AIS is a serial/usb converter, and with the driver installed on the PC it should show up as a COM port in the Windows Device Manager, the same as using a converter/adapter or a USB GPS. The driver is included in the ProAis2 software which is used to configure the unit, you can download that if you don't have it. If it was installed on the PC then the COM# should show up in Device Manager when the unit is plugged in. Setup that connection in OCPN.
