OpenCPN charts for Bahamas

Does anyone know of good, and preferably free, electronic charts for the Bahamas that work with OpenCPN?
I have the NOAA charts for the US but they don't seem to cover all of the Bahamas, and what it covers is not in great detail. Which I find surprising because I believe I saw NOAA paper charts that covered this area. Am I missing something here?

I haven't found free ones unless you can find some older ones possibly. One of the NOAA charts does cover the area, but it is so large that detail is not there.

The best thing I've found is the 3 chart set from NV-Charts that is $150 for the set.

Here is a post by me....

... that also has some info about those charts. I don't think the $150 is unreasonable and we will get those so that we can continue with OpenCPN and not have to switch to another product that would still require purchasing charts.

Hopefully for both of us there is another option, but so far I haven't seen it,

Sum

I'm not sure what you have found but the following cruising guides show what charts are available what the numbers are.

www.offshoreblue.com/assets/resources/navigation/sailing-directions/enroute/pub147-2011.zip

www.offshoreblue.com/assets/resources/navigation/sailing-directions/enroute/pub148-2011.zip

If you have any problems accessing, I can email the PDF.

Not anymore, unfortunately. NOAA no longer catalogs many of the charts that it used to, for waters that are not under U.S. jurisdiction. So, for instance, all of the charts shown for the Bahamas like 26240, 26260, 26280, and so on, are no longer available.

Well that's a nuisance! I had planned to use those but I guess I'm going to have to buy something - oh well.
