PACTOR trouble with port COM

Hello,

Restarting the Pactor which has been working for about ten years without any problems.
I have 2 radio lines, i.e. a whip antenna, 2 automatic tuner, 2 TX, 2 Pactor, and 3 PCs (one under XP, one under under W7 and one on W10)
To connect the Pactor (DB9 serial port) to the PC (USB), I have always used an RS 232 / USB converter with prolific driver. I have several just in case.
But it's the same one that has always worked.
I ,of course, did all the reinstalls of Winlink, reloaded the drivers, made countless changes and crossovers of hardware........nothing worked.
I also tested different COM ports
In the device manager, it appears the "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm port COM3" and the right click indicates that the device is working normally.
The radio line works because I made QSOs from the boat in the harbour.
Every time I want to connect to the pactor from the PC, I have this message
" NO READY SIGNAL (CTS) from COM3 check controller connection and try again."
Here I think I have tried everything, but here I dry ++++
Who has an idea??

Maritime greetings

Re: PACTOR trouble with port COM

Hello Michel,

There is a setting in Airmail/Sailmail for "Ignore CTS" - try checking that box

You could also jumper pins 7 & 8 in your 9-pin serial connector - this connects RTS to CTS and will show CTS as "ready".

Re: PACTOR trouble with port COM

Hello everyone,
Thank you for your help, and it gave us great pleasure to find the legendary mutual aid between sailors
As long as it lasts...

I contacted the support of the Pactor manufacturers, the answer was: "try with other converters, I answer already done with 5 different converters"
the next answer which is very logical from my point of view is: "It's weird, maybe the adapter or the PTC is defective.
The PTC-II has not been manufactured for 23 years,
at some point, everything breaks down. For the PTC-II have
we have no more spare parts."

I posted the same question on QRZ.com and on cruisersforum.

what I hurry to do illico presto....
= failed with service pactor for many years.
I try with the backup pactor = victory it works.
good as I am dry, no "aquatic" counterweight no real connection/contact but the link protocol is validated.

As I am RA, with an RA friend we are making a cable to connect a TX and an interface to the PC for use of the VARA HF and WINLINK EXPRESS software
the equivalent of the pactor with a full License at 70 € and speed at least equivalent or even more than the P3 or P4.

If any of you have a SIGNALINK USB type interface for sale at a good price, I'm a buyer.

If you wish, I will keep you informed.

hasta luego
