Maybe, but a 2,000mfd electrolytic capacitor costs a couple of dollars and if it works it's a cheap and effective solution.

If house loads should be separated from the starter circuit, that would explain the problems because with the current set up it's impossible. The battery driving the starter motor automatically also is the one driving house loads. If this is the problem, then it's easy to solve with a separate cable run from the house bank to main panel.

I believe that you will be a happy camper if you do this, and cheap to do, easy and effective.
