problems with autohelm 6000

Hi there,
I have a problem with my autohelm6000. It's an old device so I hope someone can help.

Up until it decided to resine- it beeped only. When it was overpowered. I.e- current was too much or wind was too string and I needed to rif or change course.

Now it's engaging the steering wheel but there's a very little play. You can move the wheel 10/20 degrees with +10 -10.
Buttons are beeping in response to pressing and auto pilot engages and sometimes it works for anything from 1 to 10 minutes. Then starts to beep as in to say it can't perform and only stops once it's back on standby.

I replaced the fuze and that helped for 15 minutes. Then back to old self. Basically doesn't work.

I checked:
Fuze
All wiring connections
Voltage seems ok

Any advice or words of wisdom will be appreciated
