Ram 3 Remote mike keeps failing

A few months ago my SH Ram3 mike died. I sent it to SH, the rebuilt it and returned it.

Today I took the boat out, called for a bridge opening and nothing.. Long story short, I did a recorded radio check and discovered that the main mike had a good voice and signal. The remote mike had a weak voice and good signal. I shot T-9 into the antenna to radio connection, and into the Ram remote connection.

Anyone else have a similar problem with the remote mike???

Hmmm... Do you treat your connections to prevent them from corroding?

Thanks

No - it is a gasketed waterproof connector. When not connected, there is a tight rubber cap that fits over the connector.

Haven't seen any indication of corrosion and all the pins and sockets are shiny.

Thanks popped down to the boat this morning and hit the connection where the extension connections into the radio. After T-9ing all the connections everything worked fine. So there was corrosion somewhere.

Like you I place the rubber cap over the outside fitting when it is not in use.

Any hoot problem solved gotta love boeshield... Just posting as an FYI for others.

Also check to make sure you still have the o-ring gasket on the mike plug end. Several times, that o-ring has dropped out on me when pulling the mike out of the connector.
