Rangefinnder

Although I have many years experience, I still find it difficult to judge when to drop the anchor when mooring stern to.

A laser rangefinder could be the answer. Advice please.

We love ours; we use it quite often.

Rangefinnder

I have one, used it for archery, brought it aboard when it appeared that Fl was about to pass a law prohibiting anchoring so many feet from houses.
They didn’t and other than wondering every now and again how far something is away, I’ve never used it.
Maybe it’s just me, but I always underestimate short distances over water, meaning I’ll think we are 100 ft away, but in reality it’s closer to 300’.
They can be incredibly accurate but of course are subject to operator error.

Re: Rangefinnder

Thanks. Which one do you use? Hawke seems to be a good one and not too expensive.
