Raymarine Depth and Speed

I have the Raymarine ST50 series depth and speed interments installed..
I have replace the sounder and paddle wheel that came with the new I50 series interments..
I want to have both the new I50 and the old ST50 depth and speed interments connected and working with the single sounder and paddle wheel..
Is this possible?? Would it work?

It should be possible but you would need a Seatalk to SeatalkNG adapter cable to connect the ST50(Seatalk) display to the I50(SeatalkNG) display that is connected to your new transducer.

Re: Raymarine Depth and Speed

I figured out that I could connect the transponders to one meter and loop the output of that to the other..
I want to connect the transponders in series or parallel to each of the I50 and ST50 meters separately..

That way I do not have to have both powered up at the same time and if one fails the other would still work..
The I50 mounted in the cockpit and the ST50 at the nav station..
Just a thought..

Re: Raymarine Depth and Speed

As I understand the ITC operation is to convert the analog signals coming from the depth and wind/speed transducers into Seatalk ng.. at a nice cost for the device..I'm not sure the ST70 has an Seatalk ng input.. or if I could turn off each device individually because they would now be connected to the same ng buss...

ST70 has Seatalkng... thought you were asking about the 50s though? Those are Seatalk. not ng.

Re: Raymarine Depth and Speed

Here is what the their site says the thing does....

"The Raymarine iTC-5 converts analogue transducer signals used in i70, ST70+ and ST70 instrument systems to SeaTalkNG.
Transducers for Speed/Temperature, Depth, Wind and Rudder Angle can be
connected to the one iTC-5 unit, eliminating the need for multiple ST70 pods."

Good idea but the unit cost money and if I connect the analog transducer outputs directly I avoid that as well as keep them isolated from the powering issue..
Both the ST50 and I50 will take a direct analog connection to the transducers..
