Raymarine e7d

Can anyone tell me how to switch off the blessed alarm that goes off when you hit the MOB button, without turning the MOB function off? I would quite like to be able to rescue someone without the extra noise making communication of any sort impossible. Thanks.

Actually, to add to that. We go to sea for some peace and quiet. Our new chart plotter (while operating admirably) is very bossy and noisy. It beeps loudly with a variety of operations. I cannot find a volume control or any way to turn it off. Any suggestions?

How does the new Raymarine e7D work? I'm debating whether i should go for Ray or Simrad NSS-7. Any feedback on the e7D would be greatly appreciated.

I would probably go for the Simrad now. The alarms beeping on the e7d every time you reach a waypoint or even turn it on, with no volume or on/off control available gives me the .......
Bruce Arms - who managed Jessica Watson's world circumnavigation and holder of single handed non-stop record around Australia, uses and recommends Simrad. He finds it more user friendly.
