Raymarine eSeries chart plotter overheats

We are in the Caribbean and use a Raymarine e series chart plotter.

It is mounted in the cockpit just inside of the dodger. When sailing all day, the sun streams in and the chart plotter will at times tend to over heat. Currently I just have a towel over the top and it seems to cure the problem.

Does anyone also have this problem and what have you done to solve it?

Thanks, Aloisius

Re: Raymarine eSeries chart plotter overheats

I don't have that specific item, but it's pretty common event here in Florida. My iPhone does it every once in awhile, and I've had it on a satellite phone. Screens have a temperature limit we can easily exceed. What you did it par for the course, the next step being the fashion a little hood that both keeps the sun off your screen and lets you read it in bright sun.
