Raymarine EV1 Problem

This is my first post so hello all!
My boat has a Raymarine autopilot fitted with P70 control head ACU200 controller and EV1 heading sensor.
I have an ongoing problem that the heading displayed will occasionally change by about 30 degrees.
I have calibrated the heading sensor numerous times and also used locked and unlocked calibration but the problem still occurs.

The indicated heading can change in the middle of a leg when nothing else has changed. It does not seem related to other electronic equipment usage or fridge turning on or off etc.
Just as mysteriously it comes good for no reason.
There is nothing metallic near the EV1
The obvious first thing to try is a new EV1 but they are very expensive beasts.
Any thoughts sought be appreciated.

Google raymarine blog
You can ask the tec a question and thay are very quick to get back. My experience has been same day or next for an answer. You can also search already answered questions.
Sorry that didn't answer your question.

Re: Raymarine EV1 Problem

Try moving the ev1?
I have had to move other brand sensors a few times.

I have exactly the same equipment but it has worked without any problems since installation in January. Call or email their technical line, they are pretty responsive. Have you no gotten satisfaction from the installer?

Re: Raymarine EV1 Problem

I had the same problem with mine. The local ray tech told me that it is most likely some kind of magnetic interference but that they constantly develop software fixes for this. He told me to first upgrade to the latest software and if that didn't help try to move the ev1 around to a different spot. The next software update seemed to have fixed the problem for me. After the update this spring it works fine.

Make sure you have the latest software. Until we put on version 15 we called our autopilot crazy Ivan. I had the same setup, an ev1 and an ac200.
