Raymarine P-70 vs P-70s control heads, difference?

I’m finally getting around to adding an autopilot to my O’DAY 34. Seems to make sense to stick w/Ray due to my other electronics but I’ve noticed they’re offering both the original control head & a new improved P-70S, anyone have experience w/these?

Thanks,
Lou

No experience except that the old one may become obsolete soon. That’s my experience.

I have the P70S control head for my auto pilot. Works great, the software is very intuitive, and the visibility in strong light is fabulous. Visibility with polarized progressive bifocals and from extreme angles is the best I’ve ever experienced.

The i70 and I70s differ only in their screen brightness. Their functions and software are identical. I guess the P70 and P70s are similar ...

Wow, being able to see wolarized bi-focal is huge! I can barely see my chart plotter & other instruments with my shades on. Thanks!

As it turns out there is no price difference for the newer model, you just have to look closely to see you’re not buying old stock. Took advantage of Defenders sale today & will charge up my drill for the weekend.
