Raymarine ST6002 & Lewmar Direct Drive problem

Hello fellow sailors Raymarine ST6002 Smart Pilot control unit and Levmar Direct Drive electric control rudder mechanism on my boat had been working flawlessly for 15 years. Autopilot not working after last Lifepo4 battery change. The system boots normally. When I press the Auto button, the rudder clutch is activated, you cannot turn the rudder to the right or left. The rudder angle is monitored on the display. Compass and wind angles are also available. The electric motor does not work at all, does not respond to the +10 and - 10 keys. Could it be a problem with the engine? Do you have any suggestions for solving the problem?

Sounds like an arm motor issue , checks there is power to the motor when auto is selected

Voltages measured when the autopilot turned on and Auto botton pressed. Is 6.5 Volt good for motor power?

Re: Raymarine ST6002 & Lewmar Direct Drive problem

I just found that the cable socket at the bottom of the Direct Drive was loose. I feel Lucky that the problem was solved by mtyself in easy way. Thank you for replies. By the way, I searched and found the info on the İnternet that, the drive motor operate around 6.5 Volts.

That would be a remarkably low voltage for a drive motor.

Modern APs use PWM for motor drive. That allows to vary the speed, adjust the response and reduce consumption.
