Re: Raymarine ST7000 plus spinning me full circle

Like CommodoreDoug, I had experienced the same thing when I stowed a tool box inadvertently in the locker above the compass location.

After finishing your work, did you put any tools in a new spot?

not that i can think of , however we did had lots of metal tools in the back whilst re-fitting the auto arm , we also had to heat up the aluminium arm to get the seized bolts out , this was a nightmare and took over 3/4 hrs on removing 4 seized bolts from the auto arm and 4 seized bolts from the steering arm . Not an easy job in such a confined space we had to work in shifts

I will re post with any progress when I have had a go with the suggestions above

Cheers

Re: Raymarine ST7000 plus spinning me full circle

It should proceed to a routine check, almost the same as when a pilot is installed for the first time.

Checks at the port dock:
In Standby, you turn the wheel to port, and check that the rudder indicator moves in the same direction. If the indication is incorrect, check the rudder sensor connections.

Put the pilot in AUTO and press +10. The wheel should turn to the right. If not, reverse the thick wires going to the power unit motor or pump.

To clarify, CD is talking about the Fluxgate Compass (a key component in many autopilots, not just RM).

Raymarine maintains documentation for all of their legacy products, downloadable at their web site Support pages.
