Raymarine update fails via SD card, but works via Internet

This just happened on the new to me boat as well as my last boat.

I was updating my Raymarine network (two Axiom pro 9's and an Axiom+ 12) via a SD card from the master MFD. Everything updated right away except for the master MFD. It continually failed with a timeout error. I followed all of the Raymarine advice on dealing with a failed update with no joy. I then remembered this happened on my last boat as well. In that case, I contacted Raymarine tech support and they said to send the unit it. Prior to doing that I tried to update via the Internet, and it worked.

The common factor here is my laptop (Macbook) and well me . I'm just curious if anyone else has run into this?

I had the same issue with the axiom 7. Would not update via SD but did via Wi-Fi

Wouldn't this be caused by the hidden "junk" files Mac OS puts on every SD card? I used cleanmydrive2 to remove those files prior to installation.

(They explain it here: https://macpaw.com/how-to/clean-sd-c...out-formatting)

This reminds me to look into updating my Raymarine C95.

I've updated my Axiom both ways without any issues. I do use an optional SD card reader mounted in the nav pod next to the MFD itself, but this should not make any difference.

It could be, but I'd think nothing would update then. The two networked MFD's updated first try.

I'll delete those files before the next update - thanks!
