Raymarine Wireless Interface T122 - doesnt!

I have been struggling to get anything out of this box. Its quite happy to pass around all the wireles data from the transducers to the instruments, and is happy to accept GPS data in through either one of its two NMEA ports, but I cant get anything out of it for my PC software.

My instrument system is all Raymarine. I bought a Yacht Devices YDWN02 NMEA0183 to WIFI interface so that i could direct all my instrument data to WIFI. Apart from being a little fiddly to set up the ports and servers on the Wifi interface, everything is working on the Wifi side. I receive AIS data into Port 1 of the YDWN02 and I can access that data using OpenCPN/iSailor on any Wifi connected device.

The T122 has an NMEA0183 output port to pass the instrument data out, and it seems to be doing so when I test the output voltage, but i get nothing coming into the YDWN02 Port 2. The port LED doesn't even recognise there is any input there.

Am I missing something?

hook up the T122 output to a pc serial port and terminal program and see what you get. you'll have to figure out what port speed it's using.

the output speed of the t122 and input of the YD might not be set the same.

Re: Raymarine Wireless Interface T122 - doesnt!

Sound advice, thankyou. I have a serial port to usb controller that I can use, just have to wire up a plug..

It does say on the box that it is supposed to output NMEA0183, though it doesnt say if thats over RS232 or RS422. I'd have to assume RS232 as i never see over 3V. I've also assumed that it outputs at 4800baud.

What I find odd is that documentation for the device illustrates a direct connection Out- and Out+ on the T122 to RX- and RX+ on a Wifi gateway (not the one I have but similar). It should just work.
