Raystar 120 GPS sees satellites, but gets no fix

I just wanted to report back that we replaced the battery in the Raystar 120, and ta da!!! The GPS is getting a fix. Our electronics whiz friend said he would never do this for money, only love....it was not easy or quick.

I am a happy girl. One chore off the list.

I replaced the battery in my Raystar 120 GPS and it fixed everything. I was getting "no fix" message and the STLK failure signal on the autopilot.


I ordered a spare 120 and battery holders. When I get the "new" one, I'm going to take the battery out and solder in the pigtail wires from the holder. I'm then going to "stash" the 120 in my navpod at the binnacle rather than hassel with running the wire out to the rail. The signal will shoot through the plastic cover on the 120 so it will damn sure shoot through the navpod wall.
