I use the Standard Horizon VHF with AIS, Works well with my Raymarine e series MFD, BUT the VHF display is very hard to see - almost no illumination despite the the box it came in showing a bright display.

I know this is an almost 4 year old thread.

What is the low end state of the art now? I’d love to get a radio with AIS and two hand sets.
