Remove Echo Sounder Transducer

Any ideas how to get it out??

​​​​Pulling on the ring just distorts it??* Unlike the log, the cap doesn't extract the transducer part as it undoes.*
I've good access to the underside.*
Gently tapping from below with block of wood??
