Replacing Raymarine C90w with 9 or 12" a series

Hey Cruisers,

We have a catamaran with an integrated nav system on a Seatalk network. Our Raymarine C90W at the nav station has gone dark, and instead of repairing, we want to replace it with a display that has bluetooth and wi-fi enabled display so that we can connect to a portable display at the helm. We are mostly sailing in the bay with hopes of coastal navigation. No need for fishfinder or open ocean gear for the foreseeable future. We are thinking of one of the Raymarine "a" series and have some questions:

1. Any opinions on 9" or 12"? We are thinking 9" would be fine and 12" costs twice as much.

2. Can it plug in easily to replace the C90W or with an adapter? Or do we need to get an electronics expert involved?

3. Any complaints or enthusiasm about the a series or another display that would easily integrate into a Seatalk network? We are still both working full-time, so looking for the easier options, rather than spending a lot of time researching or figuring out the ultimate best option.

Thanks for any input!

You'll need a Seatalk to Seatalk Ng adapter

Take a look at the attached drawing. We removed two E90W and replaced them with two e95 displays.

It is pretty straight forward as stated you will need the sea talk to sea talk ng adapter.
Raymarine SeaTalk1 to SeaTalk NG Converter Kit

They also make an adapter plate for mounting.
Upgrade or refit to new e or c series displays

Thanks, all for these replies, links, and the diagram. We see that we'll need the Seatalk ng converter. The diagram is really helpful to see how everything connects.

Has anyone got an opinion on 9 vs 12 inch display? Do people feel satisfied with the 9"?

I just upgraded to the 9" and love it, but you wouldn't be disappointed with a 12" either, just more money and space required.

The C90W already has a Seatalk NG port.

Google raymarine blog and get a factory answer in a day or two.
