Running gauge information to a chart plotter

I have a 2001 Volvo MD 2020. All it has is idiot lights instead of gauges. I thought I read someplace that there’s a way to change the sending units om the engine so that they are Nema 2000 compatible and thus run them to your chart plotter.

Does anybody know about this process, whether it’s a big deal, etc.?

Thanks.

Michael
