Sea Temp source lost

Hi,
my 2nd post, again a question. Will find the time to post some answers as well.

It seems I have lost the source for sea temp(erature) on my NMEA bus.
Tried to configure a page on the Triton2, but sea temp is not being offered anymore.

Checked the NMEA sources and the list for sea temp is empty.
I have a picture of the Triton displaying the sea temp, so it has been there before.

Usually this should be a feature of the sounder, right?

Thanks for any hints, kind regards, Jörg

Normally the temperature transducer is in the same thru-hull as the paddle wheel (STW) transducer.

Yes, I checked on the bus. There is a DST 200 transducer, which should give speed, depth, temperature.
I used the device list to check the data, and it only shows speed, distance so far and depth, no sea temp.

cheers, Jörg

Those are notorious for the temp sensor dying early. Ours only lasted a year. I read numerous posts on CF of the same thing happening. Had I known, I would have saved my money and not bothered with that particular transducer. The good news is, four years in and the speed and depth still work fine.

Re: Sea Temp source lost

In the two and a half years we have had the boat, the original Airmar DST800 triducer failed (temp and speed but not depth) and was replaced as part of an i70 upgrade. That one failed (speed, temp but not depth) in about 6 months and was replaced by Airmar under warranty. Just two weeks ago, that one failed (temp, speed but not depth). My assessment is that Airmar transducers are total JUNK. These are simple devices sealed in a plastic or epoxy so it is not likely that there is any saltwater intrusion. If they are undamaged, they should last for years but they don't. If anyone is aware of a non Airmar substitute, please let me know.
