Sharing data from old and new MFDs

New to me boat:

I have a Raymarine C80 at the nav station, and a Raymarine Hybrid Touch e7 at the helm.

The e7 is only connected to power, the other wires are not connected to anything, and it uses it's in built GPS.

I'd like to get AIS data and Radar data from the C-80 to the E7 at the Helm. Can I do this by running wires to connect the NMEA0183 from the C-80 to the E7?

The reason I ask is the manual for the e7 says that it is incompatible with the C-Classic series MFDs.

Do I need to use twisted pair shielded cable to run NMEA0183 connections around the boat?

Thanks

Re: Sharing data from old and new MFDs

The C series has SeatalkHs and 0183

But I seem to remember the C series did not support radar sharing you needed the E series for this

Ais will be typically coming in on 0183 so can be redirected to the Hybrid touch

The hybrid touch will re broadcast AIS out onto nmea 2000 ( Seatalk Ng) or use a 0183 multiple to feed the ais data to both displays.

What is your ais receiver

Re: Sharing data from old and new MFDs

Thanks,

I'm using a navicom radio as a AIS reciever plugged into the C-80.

Can I send two wires from the same plug on the radio, one to the C-80 and one to the e7? Or is that what a multiplexer is for?

Re: Sharing data from old and new MFDs

In theory you can connect the C series via a conversion cable to Seatalkng and link that to the hybrid touch. But the C series support for ais PGNS was poor so I can’t verify of it can be shared over Seatalkng

A 0183 multiplexor will allow two receivers ie both MFDs to receive the AIS information

Unfortunately radar can’t be shared
