Re: Ship Clock repair

I have a friend that repairs clocks and watches and will check with him. I've asked him in the past about one of the electric, battery powered clocks in our house and his recommendation was just buy a new movement. The old ones are difficult or impossible to repair a new one is cheap.

However the regular movements do not include a way to drive the fourth hand for tides on your ship's clock. I'll ask if he has a source for a movement that will include that function. If not you might have to go with a replacement that only has hour, minute and second hands.

Re: Ship Clock repair

Makers of the newer battery powered clocks mostly don't repair. You send them the innards of the clock and they match the face to a new motor because it's cheaper than repairing. You can get repairs done to the older, wind up types.

I think this will do what you want. Time and Tide Movement

If this one doesn't fit or work for some reason google search for "clock movement time and tide".

One additional thought. There's a chance that the old hands might not fit onto the shafts of the new movement. You might have to buy new hands to fit but I saw clock hands of various sizes and styles on their web site.
