Simrad 3G

I have decided to add radar to nav safety aids.
Single handing & short handed. coastal mainly.
3G used (1yro) or new Halo 20+?
I don't really need doppler and the range on the 3G
more suits my needs. Close/medium.
Dunno about squall warning etc as no experience other than mk1 eyeball.
Current situation has precipitated this.

Anyone had a 3G crap out?

+1 vote for the Halo 20+ instead of the 3G. It's even better than the 4G for detecting rain.

There was an issue a few years back where an incorrectly inserted pressure equalization valve let them suck in water until they died if installed in a particular way, but other than that they seem robust enough. My unit is three or four years old and works like a charm.
