Simrad A150 ais antenna ?

Hi every one .
Would anyone know if a Simrad A150 stand alone AIS unit will pick up GPS information form the network or does it need it's own didicated antenna . The manual has nothing about what it see's from the network .

The manual says you must use the GPS antenna that comes with the AIS and do not use any other GPS antenna. It is not clear if the GPS is in the unit or the antenna, my AIS (GME make) it is in the unit. I do not need an antenna to get a location.

Yes I read the same thing . There is no mention in the manual if any GPS information is imported from the network .
I sent that question to simrad , let's see what they say .

Got the answer from Simrad. They told me if I use the NMEA 0183 interface with my NSS7 it will read the GPS sentences from the NSS . This is great , I don't have to find a new external GPS antenna for it .
