Thanks Gudgeon. Do you know if the B&G masthead transducer can plug directly into the AP24 system (which would be too good to be true) or must it go via a display (so I'd have to get both the masthead unit and the display, and all the fittings)?

Thanks again!

I'd assume that the mast head unit is stand alone on the N2k bus, the wind display (simrad) is just displaying all present wind data on the N2k bus.

Almost all nmea 2000 wind sentences are the same.

As stated before simrad and b&g are subsidiaries of navico and all devices will interchange.

I have heard of a solid state wind reader that is great but I can't remember the name, it is nmea 2000 and would most likely work.

It plugs directly into a N2K bus, as the guy above says

Re: Simrad AP24 Help / Advice

You need the wind sensor and cable (part number 000-10652-001 with 20m cable) and a n2k starter kit (if you have no N2K system), part 000-10760-001. Then cut off one of the micro C plugs on a fly lead, and it wires directly to your AP computer - the colors are marked on the board by the connector on the AP computer. Easy!

Re: Simrad AP24 Help / Advice

I have the AP24 and wan to change the "boat type" setting. Can anyone tell me how to do that? It should be obvious, but when I get to that point in the menu I cannot get past the current setting. It seems to be locked on that.
Thanks!
