Re: Simrad mfd to raymarine autopilot

Really appreciate you walking me through all of this. Your rates are very good!

We have had a lot of bad weather, so I haven't been to excited about standing in the snow and rain, just to play with the plotter. I'm sure I will figure out the wind, etc.
Now I just have to come to terms with the AP. I hit several days of heavy seas on my way back from Puerto Rico and AP went nuts. There is hardly any adjustment for response time and it kept over steering, wildly. I thought for sure something was going to snap. I can't imagine anyone steering a cat with those metal T bars
used in emergency sits!

Have you tried doing a full ap calibration?

Re: Simrad mfd to raymarine autopilot

The heading is accurate. The attitude is the problem. On my system, there are only 3 settings. It works great in winds toping 30 knots, but goes crazy in seas over 6' and, of course, the angle at which the boat is connecting. Straight down wind or a close reach are ok, but anything off the beam, forget it.

I'm new at this, so my terminology is probably off.
