Calling Starlink a toy is ignorant.

I see this killing Iridium Go. If one wanted a backup emergency tool a Satphone would be a lot better. Cheaper, all in on, can get lower cost annual prepaid dataplan.

The vast majority of people buying Iridium Go over the last decade didn't do so for life raft capabilities. They used it for low speed data access for things like grib files.

Just FYI - this plan doesn’t work offshore and you would need the $150 plan and toggle mobile priority for that to work.

Yes but the cool thing is the mini dish is officially supported which may be useful for those on a tighter power budget.

I do wish SpaceX offered a mini like plan for offshore. Like 25GB total (onshore and offshore) for $60 a month and $2/GB after that. I don't really need hundreds of GB of data.

I would be happy with a mobile priority toggle on the $50 plan
