Sperry Gyrocompass Information request

Yeah, during the course of getting this unit up and running, I thought to myself many times, that if I were floating a boat somewhere, I would go for a fiber optics gyro.

Again, my motive for getting this instrument is strictly for demonstrating purposes. I doubt that it will ever be installed in a boat again.
