Hah, recommend you learn. It's a shame DSC with all of its capabilitiies is so little used. It's a great system.

It's great in concept, but I think the poor adoption is related to implementation. On many VHFs a lot of the DSC features are just a pain to use.

We use DSC between the dinghy and mother ship, with buddy boats, and with the Coast Guard.


DSC theoretically supports short text messages. That would be tremendously useful I think. Our Class B and B+ sets don't support that function.
