Strange happenings with the wind sensor

We got into a storm with high winds and lightning a few days ago. After that, the wind sensor - a B&G Triton 508 - started behaving strangely. It mostly shows wind to be on the beam from the starboard side, both True and Apparent, if sailing into the wind at any angle. From broad reach to running, however, it seems to work better, showing something closer to the actual wind direction. A trip up the mast revealed no physical damage to the sensor. Plugging and unplugging its cable and resetting it on the Zeus3 chartplotter, as per suggestions on the internet, did not fix the problem. Physically moving the wind vane while at the top of the mast did not produce "correct" wind readings either. The wind speed indicator, however, seems to be corresponding to reality, insofar as I can tell. I am befuddled why it would "work" mostly downwind now, as the wind vane can go all around effortlessly (again, verified by physically manipulating it at the mast). Any suggestions as to what may have caused this and how to fix it?

Re: Strange happenings with the wind sensor

"…..wind and lightning….*" is what you experienced. Even without a direct hit, your electronics could have been damaged.
Take this in consideration in your trouble shooting.

Re: Strange happenings with the wind sensor

Offset procedure is there with equipment . Physical movements on mast should give relevant shift as well . If so , this procedure will address .
