Tacktick T121 Hull transmitter power consumption?

Hi,

In order to assess my power needs, I am compiling the power consumption of all my electric/electronic devices on board.

I could not find that information for my rather old Tacktick T121 hull transmitter despite searching the net quite thoroughly.

Indirectly I found this: it contains a set of 3 button rechargeable batteries that can power it for 300 hours. To replace them you can find the TA119 battery kit. Some photos online suggest the batteries it contains are rechargeable versions of the CR2032. I kind of kind read "3V" on some photos.

Looking up rechargeable CR2032 online, their capacities are typically 45m A.h or 70 mA.h.

If they are able to power the device for 300 hours, it means the device draws 70/300 ie less than 0.3 mA.

Does this sound realistic? I could find that other tactic devices (displays) typically draw 1 mA, which seems to be in the ballpark.

Bottom line, this device power consumption is negligible, right?

I've got one. I've never seen any measurable power draw on my Victron amp meter. Therefore it must be less than .1 amp. I'd say much less.

Yes. That consumption is negligible. Your batteries likely have a self discharge rate higher than the tacktick consumption.

I just got confirmation from Raymarine technical support:

Quote:
The T121 draws a max of 50mA, simply to keep the internal battery charged. If the batteries are fully charged, then no current is drawn externally.
