The B&G transducer's that I use it for are removable from their thru-hull housings and are narrow so I believe it's 1 1/2" so it just fits in the end. As long as it completely covers the face of the xducer, it should be fine.

Re: Testing a depth sounder on the hard?

I use a transducer tester produced by EDI the TT-2Dx. It will tell you resonate frequency of the ducer. You can then compare it to the specs to see if it resonates at the right frequency.

Re: Testing a depth sounder on the hard?

I have a tester made by Hummingbird (I think) It has a transducer that you hold up to the installed on ...like a microphone... and a 5 LED readout that shows power output. Fixed to single frequency output of the installed unit. Basic but works.
