True, but the effect is only very slight. People get worried because of the high powers specified for powerful transducers, but the pulse transmission is only very short so the average power draw goes up only very slightly.

A 1000w high power transducer will only consume a 0.2 A or so.

Got out on the water this weekend, sounder worked to 190 feet and had no problem with speed. Forgot to check the effect of heeling, was having to much fun. Sounder is bang on for depth, checked it a couple times. It was a great solution for me to save money. Obviously not for everyone, I only need it for gunkholing really.
