Troubleshooting ICOM M80

Aloha all,
The ICOM M80 on our club boat does not transmit. It receives just fine and has a good strong power source. Can anyone give me a list of things to check before tossing it overboard (actually I wouldn't do that for environmental reasons)?
Kind Regards,
JohnL

Does it actually switch to TX when you press the PTT button?

Aloha Radio and Gord,
Thanks. I'll try that on Friday. Unfortunately I don't get out to the boat that often.
Kind Regards,
JohnL

Radio,
How do I tell if goes to TX? Is that something I read on the indicator (screen)?
Thanks,
JohnL

You should see a TX indicator and see current draw. The speaker should also be muted.

Thanks Radio,
I'll try that on Friday. Is there something I should try if I don't see TX ind. or current draw? Just trying to think ahead.
Thanks again.

If the above is correct, it may be a bad mic.

Make sure you are not using a remote mic. Use the one that is attached to the front/side of the radio.
