type 1 linear drive substitute

Has anyone used a general industrial actuator as a substitute for a type 1 linear drive made by Raymarine. I have been researching this because I think I may be able to buy an industrial actuator for far less than one made by Raymarine. I have found several actuators that come pretty close to Raymarine's but seem to fall a little short of their specs. Anyone who could shed a little knowledge about this would greatly be appreciated.
