Ultrasonic wind sensor gone batshit crazy

I have an ultrasonic wind sensor (airmar 100wx, no longer supported) that hasn't been reliable (always measures more wind than actual, and occasionally would go crazy for a few minutes showing the wind changing across all quadrants and from 10-90kts within a few seconds) ever since I bought my current boat, 2 years ago. Recently it got stuck in "crazy mode", though, and now I never see two consecutive stable readings: the direction and speed change drastically on every reading.

I've no idea how these ultrasonic sensors work so I'm wondering what, if anything, I can do to try and make it sane again?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know this particular model, but how close is your VHF/AIS antenna? My WX220 lists a minimum of 1m seperation.
