Re: Upgrade Raymarine ST60 to I60

thx for suggestion. Looks like Raymarine A28167 Service Kit may be the answer.

Yes the five crimps from your masthead unit are the same.

Following. Our ST60 system is vintage 2002-about due for replacement and upgrade. But running new wires down the mast and thru the boat is not high on my wanna-do list!

The i60 wind instrument is designed to accept the older transducers. But also has Seatalkng as well as Seatalk

Re: Upgrade Raymarine ST60 to I60

Thanks for the responses and looks like the i60 is the best choice moving forward.
anyone have experience with the wireless version? It would simplify install, but I don't trust wireless under severe conditions that might arise

Rigger just indicated that running new wires could be a problem while mast is up. I would like to but new wires can wait until mast is down.

The Raymarine sales guys in Australia felt the wireless version would be unreliable on my 42 footer. They felt the distances involved were too great. This surprised me, but I took them at their word and stuck to the wired version.

Re: Upgrade Raymarine ST60 to I60

I just did the upgrade. The transducer connections are the same but if you have seatalk you will need an adapter to connect to other instruments as it has changed.

Re: Upgrade Raymarine ST60 to I60

I completed the new Masthead install. Masthead came with cable, which was NOT installed at this time with the mast being up..

The new head and connections for the ST60 fit Perfectly.
When I fired it up, the Wind direction started working immediately. the wind speed did not but showed 0.0 knts... removed the gage, and unplugged the connectors and coated them with Dielectric grease ... took 2 times but started working, and now Im very happy. Working great!
