VHF recommendation with P/A and listen back option

Looking to get a VHF, but because of the way the boat is laid out I like to buy a unit that has a P/A and the ability to listen to what is being said close to the speaker.

like a standard horizon GX2200 ?

Any suggestions/ preferences? nuggets of wisdom ?

TIA

Our current ICOM M-605s with hailer will do that, as did our previous M-604s.

My GX 2000 has it, but I can’t get it to work, but then I can’t get the fog horn part to work either.
I’m doing something wrong in the setup I’m sure, but I finally just gave up.

The Standard Horizon GX 2200 has fog , PA and listen back. Also programmed sound signals for reduced visibility. Its a great VHF radio with many features including limited AIS. You need to purchase the PA hailer.

Follow the install instruction, SH has good product support.

My hailer is portable and mounts on the cabin top rail. It works fine, easy to rig and easy to reach if there is a problem.

Yes I am leaning towards the GX2200. The hailer wil be mounted forward. The barge is 61 ft. No engine sound in the front, but you can't hear what they yell from the front.
Which hailer did you use?
I am not too worried about the AIS, since I wil have a stand along AIS integrated with the route software

You are probably correct, however I can’t get either to work, it’s a programming thing I’m sure.
I try to activate either of them and the radio makes a bloop sound and backs out of the programming.

You can’t go wrong with the SH GX 2200. SH also has a a deck horn/hailer (Defender or other source). I mounted the 40 watt hailer below my radar radome on my mast and works great.

The Defender link with many hailers to choose from. Mine is a 30 Watt. On a barge maybe a larger wattage would be better.

We installed the Icom M506 a few years ago and love it. Listen back feature is there and nice to have.
