Vista & C-Map

Hello, is anyone out there using C-Map ECS on Vista? I have been using C-Map for many years but I am unable to run it on my new laptop with Windows Vista because I cannot select 256 colour on Vista - can anyone help?
Many thanks

Call C-Map. I would imagine they already know of the incompatibility issue. They may have a patch or update. I would imagine there is a reason that installing XP is out of the question? Would a different system like Nobeltec work for you?

Try changing the compatability mode. Right mouse click on icon and select properties then compatability.

That worked for me on C-Map-ECS on Vista the only problem i would have is that zoom size would somehow keep changing so at not to see the top buttons. Eventually I reconfigures Vista back to XP

Vista must be an Al Queda terrorist plot so we all kill ourselves. I had some issues getting a driver for my USB-serial adapter for the GPS. Hard to find a box without Vista these days.

Hi,

The basic problem is that the Porgram files folder is now special. Anything written to it is redirecetd to the virtual store. So if you are installing nav software I would suggest

1. Install to a folder outside of the program files folder
2. Always install as administrator (Right mouse click and select administrator)
3. Run the program in a compatable mode or run as administrator
4. Turn OFF user account control

Vista isn't a plot from the devil. It's just XP taken to the "Service Pack 3" level and with more eye candy. I've had very few problems running older Windows software on Vista. I have has some hardware issues, however.
